Building Up and Assessing Substantive & Disciplinary Knowledge in Primary History
null

Course Overview:
Both the National Curriculum and the OFSTED framework expect pupils to accumulate both substantive and disciplinary knowledge as they progress through Primary History. This practical course will show how subject leaders can weave ‘golden threads’ of substantive concepts (in this case, Empire) through EYFS, KS1 and KS2 planning. It will also show how substantive and disciplinary knowledge can be assessed together through the sample concept of Cause and Consequence. The course will refer to different forms of retrieval and emphasise the importance of pupil voice as a mode of assessment.
