This session will seek to identify how the statements on the Teacher Assessment Framework for KS1 Writing can be evidenced. After discussing what constitutes independence in writing, we will explore the difference between the three core standards that can be made at the end of the key stage and then allow time for teachers to work in pairs to find evidence to support their judgements. Given that this session is scheduled ahead of the assessment window, there will also be peer and consultant support to identify gaps in evidence/pupil knowledge in order that teachers can plan for teaching content and the writing experiences that they will seek to provide their children with, in the weeks that follow. Reaching a teacher assessed judgement in reading will also be briefly explored, especially how to evidence the statements at Greater Depth standard that are not assessed as part of the SATs reading papers. Please bring a small selection of pupil books that demonstrates the range of writing in your class. This will enable you to ‘benchmark’ key pupil groups.
