Short Burst Writing – An Immersive Guide

Course Overview:
Would you like a bit more understanding on how to lead Short Burst Writing in your classroom? If so, why not come along to one of our Short Burst Writing open mornings? This course is aimed at teachers who would like a deeper insight into the Short Burst Writing process using toolkits.

Course Content:

  • An Immersion in classrooms to see SBW being taught in the relevant Key Stage
  • A hand on experience of Short Burst Writing through the eyes of a child
  • How to use Toolkits to help plan your Short Burst Writing
  • ​Talk to children about their experience of Talk for Writing through their eyes

About Nicole Piper:
Nicole Piper leads Literacy at Warren Road Primary School. She brings a wealth of T4W experience across all key stages. She is passionate about instilling a love of English in people of all ages and thrives on raising standards through inspirational training and development.

About Lucy Foster:
Lucy leads literacy at Warren Road Primary School. She has been teaching for 9 years and has a wealth of experience in both Year 5 and Year 6. She is extremely passionate about sharing her love of writing, both in the classroom and through the range of CPD courses that she offers, and she has seen first-hand the phenomenal impact that TfW can have on a child’s writing journey.

Reading is another of her passions. Over the past couple of years, she has been part of a team, working with Pie Corbett, Julia Strong and Jamie Thomas, to trial and develop the Talk for Reading approach at Warren Road. Recently, one of her Year 5 planning units was published in the TfR book.
